KristinB: Allison Paige and how she came to be....

Ever since I was a teenager, I had problems with my cycles. I had very heavy bleeding along with intense cramping that would but me in bed for days. I finally went to the dr and after a battery of tests, she decided to do a laparascopy. I had endo covering a big part of my pelvic area and bowels. I had another lap 6 months later that confirmed the same diagnosis. I was placed on a menopausal-type drug that stopped AF and ovulation completely. My dr asked me if I had a boyfriend or any plans to marry soon because if I wanted to have children, I needed to get started ASAP.

DH and I were highschool sweethearts. I think the first time I saw him I knew we would be together. We threw crumpled paper at each other across the tables of an independant living class we took together. He finally asked me out, and we've been inseperable since.

We were married on July 24, 1993. We decided to wait on having children, at least for a few years. I started having more pain each month, so in April 1994 I had another lap. My doctor told me that I would be the most fertile 3 months after the procedure. We weren't very careful those next few months and to my surprise I found out I was pg in August 1994. It was a pretty uneventful pg, with the exception of pre-term labor at 27 weeks. Chase Allen was born May 2, 1995.

Chase was a handful (and still is), so we decided to wait until he was at least 2 or 3 before trying again.

We tried ttc on our own for about a year. I decided to see my dr after no success. She scheduled me for another lap. I figured I'd be pg immediately since we had success before. No such luck. After trying 6 more months, she referred us to an RE. My mom had breast cancer at the time and I wanted her to live to see another grandchild, so we wanted to get aggressive to see what the problem was.

The RE ran all the usual tests and everything was completely normal. I did BBT's and every month I was ovulating without fail. We started doing Clomid, but it caused such painful cysts each month, I gave up. The RE mentioned IVF, which didn't have the best success rate at his clinic. Our insurance would not cover any fertility treatments. Meanwhile, all of our friends were having their second and third children while all I could do is stand by and watch. I started looking into adoption. I knew I wanted to be a mom again and it didn't matter to me how my child got here. DH asked me to try one more round of Clomid before moving forward. We were already accepted by an agency and I really didn't want to try again. I decided to try one more time. We were on vacation and I was sick as a dog. The night we got home, I took a pg test and it was postive. I had a subchrionic hemorrhage with this pg that required some bedrest, but all was okay. Jarett Matthew was born May 29, 2000.

We felt our family was complete. I was happy with two boys and had my hands full. In June 2002, I became on of those women that I had despised before. I found out I was pg with NO help! I had a lot of bleeding the beginning of the pg, but everything was fine. On February 16, 2002, my water broke a week early. Allison Paige was born at 10:25pm weighing in at 6-8 and 19 1/2 inches long.

I feel so blessed to have my three. Our family is definitely, positively complete now. I can't believe it's been six months!!!
